Project Description

Oakland Touchdown Detour was a 600 ft long detour structure at the East end of the Bay Bridge that included widening of the existing bridge southward and demolishing a triangular portion on the north side. The complex interface required partial demolition of existing bridge and load transfer from existing bridge to new structure under live traffic. SPS Engineers worked with the multi-disciplinary TYLin team to develop contract plans for the PS&E package. SPS also provided construction support and as needed supervision at site all through construction phase.
