Project Description
Oakland Touchdown Detour – a 600 ft long detour structure at the East end of the Bay Bridge – included widen-ing of the existing bridge southward and demolishing a triangular portion on the north side. The complex inter-face required partial demolition of existing bridge and load transfer from existing bridge to new structure under live traffic. SPS Engineers worked with the multi-disciplinary TYLin team to develop contract plans for the PS&E package.
